BATH AND HAWKS TOUR DESCRIPTION
BOOK THE TOUR:
This tour offers a unique experience for visitors to Bath by combining a walking tour of the city with a visit to a small falconry on the outskirts of Bath where you will have the memorable experience of flying a hawk in the surrounding countryside.
I will collect you and drive you to my favourite viewpoint over the city to give you a great perspective of Bath. I will then take you on a walking tour of the city to show you all of Bath's famous landmarks such as the Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge. During the tour you will hear stories about the city's past and its famous residents. You will find out why you can see statues of pigs in Bath and why Bath became a popular destination for Kings and Queens!
After our tour of Bath I will drive you to a great spot for lunch before taking you to a small village on the outskirts of the city where a small non-for-profit organisation runs a falconry and owlery. In addition to rescue & rehabilitation work the centre is dedicated to promoting an understanding of the ancient art of falconry. Under the guidance of a local falconer you will be introduced to your hawk and taken on a short walk into the countryside where you will have the opportunity to practise some simple falconry techniques and enjoy the unique experience of flying a hawk!
After the experience I will drive you back to your accommodation in Bath.
The tour is available daily, starting at 9am and will finish between 3pm and 4pm depending upon how quickly you feed the hawk!
The hawk experience has a maximum capacity of 4 people and a minimum age of 8 years old is recommended. If you are more than 4 people please contact me to see if your group can be accommodated.
Pick-up is available from all Bath hotels and central locations in the city - such as the Bath Spa train station. Pick-up is also available from destinations outside of Bath at an additional price (e.g. Bristol) - please contact me for details.
During the walking tour of Bath there will not be time to go inside the Roman Baths or other museums but I can point these out to you or offer suggestions if you would like to visit one during your stay.
Hawks are carnivores so you will be feeding them meat during the tour (gloves for handling the meat are available).
Spaces at the falconry are limited and are subject to availability. After receiving your booking I will check availability and will contact you to confirm your space. The falconry reserve the right to cancel the hawk experience in the event of unsuitable weather on the day. Should this occur you will have the opportunity to fly owls indoors which is an equally fantastic experience! If you prefer to fly owls instead of a hawk please message me.
The hawk experience involves a short walk through fields and so suitable clothing is recommended.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED
Refreshments and lunch are not included in the price.
