"You must do this! Once in a lifetime experience! You actually get to be up and personal with a hawk and meet the people who rescue and care for these amazing birds. It is a once and a lifetime experience I can not recommend enough."

  • You will visit a small falconry on the outskirts of Bath and have the unique opportunity to fly a hawk in the English countryside. See the short video clip at the bottom of this page to see one of the hawks in action!

  • After the hawk experience you will enjoy a private walking tour of Bath to see the city's famous landmarks and hear interesting stories about the city's past and residents. I will also take you to my favourite viewpoint over the city!
  • Tour starts at 1:30pm and finishes at 6pm.

This tour offers a unique experience for visitors to Bath by combining a walking tour of the city with a visit to a small falconry on the outskirts of Bath where you will have the memorable experience of flying a hawk in the surrounding countryside.

I will collect you at 1:30pm and drive you to a small village on the outskirts of Bath where a small non-for-profit organisation runs a falconry. In addition to rescue & rehabilitation work the centre is dedicated to promoting an understanding on the ancient art of falconry. Under the guidance of a local falconer you will be introduced to the birds and taken on a short walk into the countryside where you will have the opportunity to practise some simple falconry techniques and enjoy the unique experience of flying a hawk!

After the experience I will drive you to my favourite viewpoint over Bath. I will take you on a private walking tour of the city to see Bath's famous landmarks such as the Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge. I will also show you the location of Bath's hot springs, without which Bath would not be the city it is today. The tour will end in the centre of Bath.

Pick-up is available from all Bath hotels and central locations in the city - such as the Bath Spa train station.

During the walking tour of Bath there will not be time to go inside the Roman Baths or other museums but I can happily point these out to you or offer suggestions if you would like to visit one during your stay.

To give the best experience, the falconry normally operates the hawk tours on a small group basis with a maximum of 4 participants. If you are less than 4 people you may have other people with you on this part of the tour.

Hawks are carnivores so you will be feeding them meat during the tour (gloves for handling the meat are available).

The falconry reserve the right to cancel the hawk experience in the event of unsuitable weather on the day. Should this occur you will be offered the option of an alternative date, the opportunity to fly an owl indoors or a refund of the hawk experience.

The hawk experience involves a short walk through fields and so suitable clothing is recommended.

Refreshments are not included in the price.
