GLASTONBURY
AND WELLS

TOUR

PRIVATE TOUR EXPLORING ENGLAND'S SMALLEST CITY: WELLS

AND THE QUIRKY TOWN OF GLASTONBURY

TOUR DESCRIPTION

I will collect you from your accommodation in Bath at 8am and drive you to Glastonbury, approx. 1 hour from Bath.

We will climb up to the Glastonbury Tor. The Glastonbury Tor is one of the most famous landmarks in the region. The walk from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill where the Tor is located takes approximately 20 minutes depending on your fitness. There are around 260 steps and so it is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties. From the top you will be rewarded with panoramic views and I will explain about the legends behind the Tor.

After climbing the Tor we will continue to the ruins of the Glastonbury Abbey. The abbey claimed it was built on the site of the earliest Christian monastic site in Britain and went on to become one of the wealthiest abbeys in the country. I will guide you around the ruins and tell you some of the interesting stories behind them.

Our next stop will be Wells, England's smallest city, approx. 20 minutes from Glastonbury. The city is renowned for its impressive cathedral, its clock which is one of the oldest in the world and a street which is the oldest residential street in Europe - all of which you will visit during our private walking tour of Wells.

After the tour I will drive you back to Bath. We will return to Bath for 2pm.
