LACOCK & CASTLE COMBE TOUR DESCRIPTION
I will collect you at 1:30pm and drive you to the village of Lacock, approximately 45 minutes from Bath. Owned by the National Trust, almost all of the buildings in this village are protected and appear as they would have done almost 200 years ago - making it a popular location for filming period films & TV series (Cranford, Harry Potter, Emma and many other films have been filmed here). I will take you on a walking tour of the village where you can see traditional village features such as a tithe barn, a blind-house as well as a house dating back to the early 1200s. I will explain about the village's history as well as its famous residents.
After exploring Lacock we will drive to the village of Castle Combe. Once voted England's prettiest village, Castle Combe is a great example of a traditional Cotswold village and has featured in the films of Warhorse, Stardust and Dr Doolittle. During your walking tour of this tiny village you will learn about the Cotswolds as well as the history of the village.
At the end of the tour we will stop to enjoy a culinary experience which all visitors to England should try - the traditional English Cream Tea!
You will return to Bath around 6:30pm.
Pick-up is available from all Bath hotels and central locations in the city - such as the Bath Spa train station.
We do not visit Lacock Abbey during the tour. If you are interested in visiting the Abbey which was converted into a country home and is where they filmed some of the scenes for Harry Potter please let me know in advance. An additional charge will apply to pay for the entrance fee.
