Day 1:

  • In the morning you will be collected from Southampton (cruise ship or hotel) or your
London hotel. Your pick-up time will depend upon your location.

  • Private transfer to the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath. On route you will stop to explore one of Britain's most famous monuments - the ancient and mysterious stone circle of Stonehenge. I will guide you around the stone circle to explain the stories and theories behind this fascinating site.

  • After lunch you will have a private walking tour of the city of Bath. I will show you its beautiful buildings and tell you the stories behind these and the people of Bath. You will also visit the Roman Baths museum - the city's most famous attraction and one of the best-preserved ruins of a Roman spa. Guides are not allowed to guide around the museum so this will be an unaccompanied visit. You will have use of the museum's audio-guides.

  • At the end of the tour I will take you to your accommodation in Bath where your evening will be at leisure. Overnight in Bath.

Day 2:

  • I will collect you at 8:30am and will drive you to the cathedral-city of Wells - England's smallest city.

  • You will have a private walking tour of Wells which includes a visit to Europe's oldest residential street as well as the beautiful Wells Cathedral which dates back to the 13th century and houses the world's second oldest working clock.

  • After lunch you will be driven to the birth-place of the famous Cheddar cheese - the village of Cheddar. You will visit a small cheese factory which still makes Cheddar cheese using the traditional method. There will be the opportunity to see them making the cheese as well as to taste real authentic cheddar.

  • On our return to Bath we will drive through the scenic Cheddar Gorge, England's largest gorge. There will be the opportunity to stop and climb to a viewpoint on the gorge where you will be rewarded with fantastic panoramic views of the gorge and the surrounding area (not recommended for guests with mobility problems).

  • Overnight in Bath, evening at leisure.

Day 3:

  • Hotel check-out. In the morning you have the option of either:

    - A walking tour of a traditional English village which tour buses have yet to discover. I will give you an insight into traditional English village life and show you some of the village's unique historical features. You will also have a walk in the surrounding countryside to explore an ancient historical site.

    OR
    - Visit a small non-for-profit falconry at a charming village near Bath. Here you will have the unique opportunity to fly a hawk in the English countryside under the guidance of an expert falconer.

  • After lunch at a traditional English pub I will transfer you to the next destination on your holiday. e.g. London, London airports, Southampton, Oxford, Cotswolds. All destinations within 3 hours drive of Bath are included in the tour price.

TOUR PRICE

  • The price includes all entrance fees into the attractions stated above and 2 nights accommodation including breakfast.

  • Refreshments, lunch and evening meals are not included.

TOUR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Maximum size of your group: 4 people.

  • Luggage: There is space in the vehicle for a maximum of 4 large suitcases and 4 carry-on bags. If you plan to have more luggage than this - please contact me before booking the tour.

  • Accommodation: Your accommodation in Bath will be in a small boutique guest-house. These are often in historical characterful buildings. Due to their size, these guest-houses do not have the same facilities as hotels i.e. there is no on-site restaurant for lunch/evening meals, no gym and receptions are not manned 24/7. If these facilities are important to you, please request a hotel at the time of booking and I will arrange a 3-star hotel for you. If you would like to upgrade to one of Bath's luxury hotels please contact me for information.

  • Accommodation stairs: A number of the boutique guest-houses are located in historical buildings which do not have a lift and thus may require a number of steps to reach your room and the breakfast room (Bath's Georgian buildings traditionally had their kitchens in the basement). If you prefer your room to be located on a lower floor, please advise at the time of booking.

  • Accommodation rooms: Rooms are based upon the size of your group (1 person:  1 single room, 2 people: 1 double room, 3 people: 1 double room and 1 single room, 4 people: 2 x double rooms). All rooms are en-suite. Please advise at the time of booking if you have any additional room requirements e.g. twin bed format.

  • Mobility: This tour includes a number of walking tours which may be on uneven surfaces and thus is not recommended for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair. The viewpoint at Cheddar Gorge involves a 15 minute walk up a steep uneven dirt path which can get muddy when there has been rain.

  • Fly a Hawk Option: Due to limited spaces, availability at the falconry will be checked at the time of your booking and confirmed back to you. The hawk flying is subject to favourable weather conditions on the day. In the event of unfavourable weather there will be the opportunity to fly owls indoors instead.

  • Dietary Requirements: Please inform me of any specific dietary requirements at the time of booking.
