Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot find the answer to your question below please contact Bath Insider Tours so that we can help.

What is the start and end time for my tour?

All of the tour timings are detailed at the bottom of the tour description on this website. These timings will be confirmed to you by email when you book a tour. Morning and full day tours normally start between 8.30 and 9.30am and afternoon tours normally start around 2pm. Morning tours will normally finish around lunchtime whilst afternoon and full day tours normally finish around 6pm. The end times should be treated as a guide-line and not a fixed time. We don't want to rush your visit  and traffic can also impact our return time. If you have an event/engagement after the tour please let us know so that we can make sure you are back in time.

Can I change the start time of my tour?

Maybe! The start times have been designed to give you the best possible experience on your tour. If this time is not convenient for you please let us know so that we can advise you if it is possible to change the start time and what the impact, if any, this could have on your experience.

Where is the meeting point for my tour?

If you are staying at a hotel in the Bath area we will meet you at the hotel reception, otherwise we will meet you by the ticket barriers in the main ticket hall of Bath Spa train station. The location will be confirmed to you by email. If the location is not convenient do let us know. If you are staying outside of the Bath area we may be able to collect you from your hotel for an additional fee.

Where does my tour finish?

The tour will either end back at your hotel, the Bath Spa train station or in the centre of Bath. The location will be confirmed to you by email. If the location is not convenient, do let us know.

What extras must I pay for on the day?

We do not want you to worry about having to pay for attractions during your tour so any admission fees for the attractions listed in your tour are already included in our price. On the day you will only need money for refreshments, meals, donations & gratuities and of course souvenirs!

What should I wear and bring with me on the tour?

We recommend wearing comfortable and suitable clothes and shoes for walking and being outdoors. Don't forget you are in England so rain is possible throughout the year! We will have umbrellas that can be used just incase.

Do I need to be physically fit for the tours?

We will not be climbing mountains nor doing marathons so you do not have to be an athlete for our tours! There will however be some amount of walking and standing required. The advantage of having a private tour is that we can take it at your pace. If you are concerned about whether the tour is suitable for your fitness and health please contact us before the booking and also let us know of any medical conditions that could impact you on the tour.

Do the tours operate when it is raining?

Yes. You may not have another chance to return to this area so we don't want you to miss out!

Is there an age restriction for the tours?
The Bath City Tour & Fly a Hawk and the Stonehenge & Local Brewery tour are the only tours with an age restriction as this is imposed upon us by the suppliers. For these tours children will need to be at least 8 or 12 years old respectively. Please see the tour description for more information.

We do not have child seats/booster seats for our vehicle but there are ISOFIXs to securely attach these if you bring your own. It is a legal requirement for all passengers aged over 3 years old to wear a seat-belt whilst in a vehicle.

What is the maximum number of people on the tour?

All of our tours are private so the number of people depends upon you. We accept private bookings of up to 6 people. This number is determined by the vehicle we use for the tours. If you have more than 6 people, please let us know so that we can explore options for you.

Can I change the date for my tour?

If we have availability on your new date we will change the tour to this new date. Please notify us by email as soon as you realise that you need to change the date.

Can I change the number of people in my group?

As long as it does not exceed the maximum number of 6, then yes. Please notify us by email if you need to change your group size, an additional fee may be required if the tour includes admission prices into attractions. If the change increases the group size past 6 people then we will need to check if the change is possible.

How do I cancel a booking?

Please send an email to requesting that the booking be cancelled. A cancellation charge may apply, please see our Terms and Conditions for more information.

I have a National Trust/English Heritage membership - does this entitle me to a discount?

Some of the attractions in our tours do have discounts for National Trust/English Heritage members. If you have membership please notify us at the time of booking. You will need to bring your National Trust/English Heritage membership card with you on the tour. We will refund you any discounts on the day of the tour.

Can I leave luggage in the car during the tour?

Depending upon the size of your group there may be space for your luggage in our vehicle. Please contact us in advance if you would like to bring your luggage with you. Please note that any luggage left in our vehicle is left at your own risk.

Can you arrange accommodation in Bath and transport to my next destinations?

Yes, we would be happy to help. Please send us an email with the details.

Do you do tours to the Cotswolds?
Bath is located on the southern tip of the Cotswolds. We can organise tours to villages and towns in the southern part e.g. Castle Combe and Tetbury. For tours in the northern and eastern part of the Cotswolds e.g. Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Blenheim Palace we recommend using

Undiscovered Cotswolds - a great company run by locals that specializes in that area. Their website is:

I would like to visit a destination that is not in your tours
