Frequently Asked Questions
If you cannot find the answer to your question below please contact me so that I can help.
What is the start and end time for my tour?
All of the tour timings are detailed in the tour description on this website. These timings will be confirmed to you by email when you book a tour. Morning and full day tours normally start between 8.30 and 9.30am and afternoon tours normally start around 2pm. Morning tours will normally finish around lunchtime whilst afternoon and full day tours normally finish around 6pm. The end times should be treated as a guide-line and not a fixed time. I don't want to rush your visit and traffic can also impact our return time. If you have an event/engagement after the tour please let me know so that I can make sure you are back in time.
Can I change the start time of my tour?
Maybe! The start times have been designed to give you the best possible experience on your tour. If this time is not convenient for you please let me know so that I can advise you if it is possible to change the start time and what the impact, if any, this could have on your experience.
Where is the meeting point for my tour?
Unless otherwise stated in the tour description, I will meet you at your accommodation in Bath or at a central location in Bath e.g. the railway station. The location will be confirmed to you by email. If you are staying outside of the Bath area I may be able to collect you from your hotel for an additional fee.
Where does my tour finish?
The tour will either end back at your hotel or a pre-agreed location in the centre of Bath. The location will be confirmed to you by email. If the location is not convenient, do let me know.
What extras must I pay for on the day?
I do not want you to worry about having to pay for attractions during your tour so any admission fees for the attractions listed in your tour are already included in the price. On the day you will only need money for refreshments, meals, gratuities and of course souvenirs!
What should I wear and bring with me on the tour?
I recommend wearing comfortable and suitable clothes and shoes for walking and being outdoors. Don't forget you are in England so rain is possible throughout the year! I will have umbrellas that can be used just in case.
Do I need to be physically fit for the tours?
We will not be climbing mountains nor doing marathons so you do not have to be an athlete for my tours! There will however be some amount of walking and standing required. The advantage of having a private tour is that we can take it at your pace. If you are concerned about whether the tour is suitable for your fitness and health please contact me before the booking and also let me know of any medical conditions that could impact you on the tour.
Do the tours operate when it is raining?
Yes. You may not have another chance to return to this area so I don't want you to miss out!
Is there an age restriction for the tours?
The Bath City Tour & Fly a Hawk is the only tour with an age restriction as this is imposed upon me by the falconry. For these tours children will need to be at least 8 years old. Please see the tour description for more information.
I do not have child seats/booster seats for my vehicle but there are ISOFIXs to securely attach these if you bring your own. It is a legal requirement for all passengers aged over 3 years old to wear a seat-belt whilst in a vehicle.
What is the maximum number of people on the tour?
With the exception of my 2 hour public walking tour, all of my tours are private so the number of people depends upon you. I accept private bookings of up to 6 people. This number is determined by the vehicle I use for the tours. If you have more than 6 people, please let me know so that I can explore options for you.
Can I change the date for my tour?
If I have availability on your new date I will change the tour to this new date. Please notify me by email as soon as you realise that you need to change the date.
Can I change the number of people in my group?
As long as it does not exceed the maximum number of 6, then yes. Please notify me by email if you need to change your group size, an additional fee may be required if the tour includes admission prices into attractions. If the change increases the group size past 6 people then I will need to check if the change is possible.
How do I cancel a booking?
Please send an email to info@bathinsidertours.co.uk requesting that the booking be cancelled. A cancellation charge may apply, please see my Terms and Conditions for more information.
I have a National Trust/English Heritage membership - does this entitle me to a discount?
Some of the attractions in my tours do have discounts for National Trust/English Heritage members. If you have membership please notify me at the time of booking. You will need to bring your National Trust/English Heritage membership card with you on the tour. I will refund you any discounts on the day of the tour.
Can I leave luggage in the car during the tour?
Depending upon the size of your group there may be space for your luggage in my vehicle. Please contact me in advance if you would like to bring your luggage with you. Please note that any luggage left in my vehicle is left at your own risk.
Can you arrange accommodation in Bath and transport to my next destinations?
Yes, I would be happy to help. Please send me an email with the details.
Do you do tours to the Cotswolds?
Bath is located on the southern tip of the Cotswolds. I can organise tours to villages and towns in the southern part e.g. Castle Combe and Tetbury. For tours in the northern and eastern part of the Cotswolds e.g. Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Blenheim Palace I recommend using
Undiscovered Cotswolds - a great company run by locals that specializes in that area. Their website is: https://undiscoveredcotswolds.com/.
I would like to visit a destination that is not in your tours
Please email me the details and I will advise if this is possible.
