We will join the unique inner circle access at Stonehenge.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
I will collect you at 6:15am from your accommodation in Bath and drive you to Stonehenge, the journey will take approx. 50 minutes.
The public are not normally allowed to go inside the stone circle but you will join their special inner access group which allows up to 30 people to go inside the stone circle - giving you a very unique experience. I will accompany you to explain the history of the stone circle which dates back over 4,000 years ago and point out some of its unusual features. The exact purpose of Stonehenge remains a mystery so at the end of our visit you can form your own opinion!
After visiting Stonehenge I will drive you to the village of Nunney, stopping off on route for breakfast. At Nunney we will see the ruins of a small moated 14th century castle which was built by a knight who had fought in the wars in France. The castle saw action during the Civil War and remained inhabited until the end of the 18th century when it was abandoned leading to the picturesque ruins you see today. Please note that it is a tiny castle and today it is just an empty shell.
From Nunney we will continue to Wells, England's smallest city. The journey will take approx. 25 minutes. Wells is renowned for its impressive cathedral - my favourite cathedral in the region! I will guide you around the cathedral where we can also see one of the oldest working clocks in the world.
We will return to Bath around 4:30pm, I am happy to keep the return time flexible if you would like to see more in the area. For lunch we can grab a light bite at one of the cafes/pubs in Wells.
