 STONEHENGE CHEDDAR AND WELLS

Private day-trip

from Bath

TOUR DESCRIPTION

I will collect you at 8:30am from your accommodation in Bath and drive you to Stonehenge, approx. 50 minutes away.

I will guide you around the Stonehenge Visitor Centre and the ancient stone circle. I have visited Stonehenge over 600 times and it still impresses me each time I visit! Knowing the history and theories behind Stonehenge really enhances a visit so I will share these with you along with its unusual stories!

After exploring Stonehenge I will drive you to the Cheddar Gorge, approx. 1 hr 20 minutes away. We will stop during the journey for lunch at a village pub.

The Cheddar Gorge is England's largest gorge and my favourite scenery in the area. Driving through the gorge we will stop at my favourite spot for a photo of the gorge cliffs. The village of Cheddar lies at the bottom of the gorge and is the birth-place of the famous cheese. We will visit the only cheese factory in Cheddar which is still making Cheddar cheese using traditional methods. At the factory you will see how the cheese is made and get to try different varieties of their cheese.

After sampling the Cheddar cheese we will drive to Wells, England's smallest cityWells is renowned for its impressive cathedral, its clock which is one of the oldest in the world and a street which is the oldest residential street in Europe. I will take you on a tour of the cathedral and the centre before your Evensong at Wells Cathedral.

After Choral Evensong I will drive you back to your accommodation in Bath, arriving around 7:30pm.

ADDITIONAL INFO

We will be walking on grass at Stonehenge so please bear this in mind for your footwear. We will not be able to go inside the stone circle but we will get close to the stones.

Wells Cathedral closes parts of the cathedral in preparation for Choral Evensong so our tour of the cathedral will be dictated by what is open to the public at the time.
