ENGLISH VINEYARD AND SCENERY OVERVIEW
If you enjoy trying local produce on your holidays and experiencing the local scenery then this may be the perfect tour for you!
The English wine industry is rapidly growing, there are now over 1100 vineyards in the country. English sparkling wine has won numerous international awards and more restaurants are starting to offer English-grown wine on their menus. On this tour I will collect you from your accommodation in Bath and drive you to a small vineyard in the Somerset countryside, approx. 1 hour away. The 13 acre vineyard produces 10-15,000 bottles of wine a year and is a great example of the many small vineyards which have started to appear in England. We will join their public vineyard tour (max. 12 people). Led by one of the vineyard's team we will be shown around the vineyard to get a great insight into the operations of an English vineyard and learn about the challenges and opportunities facing English vineyards. The tour ends with a delicious tasting of their wines!
After a stop for lunch we will drive through the scenic Somerset countryside and I will show you my favourite sceneries in the region. We will see the area's most famous landmark - the Glastonbury Tor. You will have the option to climb to the Tor for fantastic panoramic views of the Somerset Levels. We will also drive through England's largest gorge, the Cheddar Gorge, home to feral goats and feral sheep and the birthplace of Cheddar Cheese! If you would like to purchase some authentic Cheddar cheese on the tour just let me know! We will return to Bath around 5:45pm.

ADDITIONAL INFO
Spaces on the vineyard tour are limited to 12 and are subject to availability. After receiving your booking I will check availability and will contact you to confirm your space. Your credit card will only be charged if spaces are confirmed.

The vineyard tour is best suited for adults. Under 18s are permitted on the vineyard tour but are not allowed to take part in the tastings.

Harvesting of the grapes typically takes place in September/beginning of October - depending on the weather that year. Like many small English vineyards the grapes are sent to a winery where they are pressed, matured and bottled so please do not expect to see barrels of wine maturing - this is a tour of the vineyard.

During the tour you will have the opportunity to climb to the Glastonbury Tor where you will be rewarded with panoramic views. The walk from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill where the Tor is located takes approximately 20 minutes depending on your fitness. There are around 260 steps and so it is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
BOOK THE TOUR:

If you have already been to the Glastonbury Tor/Cheddar Gorge I can customise this tour to instead visit a charming English garden. If you would like to do this please contact me before booking the tour, a surcharge will apply to cover the cost of the garden tickets. The garden option is available between April and the end of September.
