Queen's Funeral - Monday 19th September

Queen Elizabeth II is currently lying in state at Westminster Hall in London where members of the public are filing past to pay their respect. The Queen's state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 11am local time. Heads of State and Royal Families from around the world will join the Queen's family and senior UK politicians for the funeral. The Queen was crowned at Westminster Abbey and this will be the first funeral service of a monarch at the abbey since the 18th Century. After the funeral the Queen's coffin will be taken to Windsor Castle where she will be buried inside St George's Chapel.

The day has been declared a Bank Holiday so that the UK public can pay their respect. If you are on holiday in the UK on this day please be prepared for disruption. Many shops, supermarkets and attractions across the country will be closed. If you need any items e.g. from a chemist, supermarket - make sure you get this before Monday and remember: shops close early on a Sunday in England and some shops do not open on Sundays so do plan ahead!

Stonehenge is closing for the day of the funeral as are the museums in Bath e.g. the Roman Baths Museum, Jane Austen Centre, Holburne Museum. A number of the local pubs have taken the decision to close during the time of the funeral but some have announced that they will re-open in the evening. If you have a restaurant booking on the Monday please do check that your restaurant will be open - hopefully they will have contacted you.

If you are in Bath on the 19th - the Bath Abbey will be open and it is broadcasting the funeral at 11am.

This is a historic occasion for the country and if you are in England at this time, you will be part of it!
